Why the Chair fans are so up in arms:

This really could be it. This isn’t a Raina or Louis situation; an outsider coming into the show for the sole purpose of building the tension between Chuck and Blair while we all know they’re going to leave for one reason or another. Dan has been around since the first episode and he’ll be around for the last. He’s not going to leave town because of a crazy father or royal duties; he’s proved time and time again that he’s always going to be there for Blair, whether she wants him or not - and now, finally, she does want him.

The Chair fans and their aggressive reactions to all of this are mirroring Chuck’s too closely for comfort. Dan himself said it best: “I must be winning. You wouldn’t be trying this hard if I didn’t have a real shot with her.” And Chair shippers wouldn’t be bothered so much if if he didn’t have a real shot with her.

Dan knows he can win. Chuck knows Dan can win. Dair fans know Dan can win, and though most of them wouldn’t admit it under torture, Chair fans know Dan can win.
